Originally,
the Church was located on Fence Road very close to its present location, and was named The Pleasant Hill Methodist Episcopal
Church, South. | 1857 | Dr. Sam H. Freeman deeded the congregation 4 acres of
land within the city limits of Dacula. A clapboard structure was built, and the congregation relocated
to 75 Dacula Road | | | | 1910 | A
brick building was erected and the church became known as the Dacula Methodist church | | | | 1937 | The First United Methodist Church of Dacula
was founded | | | | 1955 | A
second brick facility was constructed and the Church was renamed Hinton Memorial Methodist Church after receiving a large
endowment from the Hinton family | | | | 1987 | The Congregation
celebrated 150 years of ministry and mission in Dacula | | | | 1993 | The Church entered
into the N. Georgia conference Church Redevelopment program | | | | 1995 | On October 23rd,
the name was changed from Hinton Memorial Methodist to The First United Methodist Church of Dacula | | | | 1999 | On May 23rd the new building was
consecrated, and the first Service was held at our present location -- 2655 Fence Road! |
